The technologies used to create a website are many and the choice depends on the use and results to be obtained.

savinusWEB SITE IN FLASH
sites are fully animated.
see some examples:
Mcdonalds Melania Multimedia design or visit the Flash Examples

A Flash site allows a captivating graphic impact through the use of fades and animations.
Most fashion sites and image sites use Flash for this reason to obtain a visual style unique from both the aesthetic point of view and from the point of view of communication.

Disadvantages:
Textual information and links embedded in Flash are not visible in all search engines.
Requires plugin installed on your browser.
It is not currently available a flash plugin for Apple iPhone by making the site not visible
Updating a Flash site require technical knowledge that a customer can't have.
It does not have an administration panel with which the customer can update the site.
The construction costs are medium to high depending on the type of work required.

Use:
The companies that make Flash sites of impact are well-known companies to "enhance its image in the background, leaving the visibility.
A flash site is not the best choice to handle a lot of information, texts and databases.

SITE IN HTML, PHP, ASP:
sites are made entirely from the web designer or team of professionals (graphic designers, programmers, web designers, marketing expert).

Advantages:
You can get whatever result the client wants.
The whole site is created by hand and is unique in the market.
If properly implemented has better security than the CMS, but only because it's unique and hackers have no interest in wasting time on a single site, unless it "worth it"

Disadvantages:
The construction costs are medium-high-very high depending on the type of work required.
The site requires a period of beta testing, especially in the case of special applications (banking, e-commerce, databases, etc. ..).
It does not have a site administration panel, unless it is made by the programmer, but in this case the costs are higher.

-------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------

SITE IN CMS:
Content management system (CMS acronym), it's a set of programs (web and otherwise) to organize and facilitate collaborative creation of documents and other content.
A CMS allows you to populate your web site and manage content, trying to minimize the computer skills that you must have.

A CMS allows you to build and maintain a dynamic website, even very large, without writing a single line of HTML and without knowledge of server-side programming languages (like PHP) or design a special database. The appearance can be customized by choosing a style sheet specifically designed for a particular CMS.

There are specialized CMS, that is specially designed for a specific type of content (on-line encyclopedia, a blog, a forum etc..) CMS and generic, which tend to be more flexible to allow the publication of various types of content.
See some examples:

Luciana Mosconi, Colosseum, Sab Aerospace, Kedim, Valli Pianoforti,  HHB (the last is a mix of flash and CMS)
The site you are viewing is a CMS

Advantages:
Medium-low cost and excellent results.
Allows you a large amount of graphic changes, reflecting the exact corporate image.
To use it you do not need specific skills.
You can update the site  without having the support of other companies.
The interface and controls are intuitive to use, in your language, based on the most common applications (eg MS Word).
It allows you to deliver online services approximately 25,000 Compatible Extensions (such as newsletter, forum, e-commerce, news, etc...)
Ensuring a strong support and assistance in basic use.
Completely Open Source, supported by a large team and valid worldwide.
Improved and tested daily by developers, designers, system operators, translators, editors from around the world.
Everything is as simple as possible, providing as many tools as possible. In the end even users who do not have technical skills can have complete control over their sites without having to spend big bucks to buy software non-customizable.
It can be integrated in any CMS technology (flash, java, etc. ..).
Compared to a site made by hand is more reliable because it has thousands of users and developers in the world that continually test and improve the CMS, which is impossible to achieve with a site "by hand" due to budget and time often leaving him with considerable Bugs!

Disadvantages or rather, adroitness:
Be careful when installing new applications that could make the site vulnerable.
Regularly update the site with the latest patches (as it's done for operating systems).
